I thought it maybe a bit cliché, ya know, having a blog start off with a definition. Then I realized with the amount of overuse injuries, that maybe people don't really know how to apply it. Breaking down your training or recovery into distinct periods or cycles will allow for greater performances and reduced injury occurrence. Its a difficult thing to do and requires as much skill and discipline as the sport or activity that you are actually playing. It is a worthwhile practice, when was that last time you looked at your season, or training goal and broke it into chunks, chunks that contained rest and recovery?
