Learning Environments

Years I ago I had read a book by author David Epstein, titled “The Sports Gene” It was well written and incredibly fascinating. Within in the book David brings attacks the notion of the 10 000 hour rule of becoming a complete expert. He uses the example of a skilled basketball player becoming a competitive high jumper with little no experience, competing against those nearing their 10 000 hour journeys of expertise. Recently David hosted a TED talk , while actually it was in February but it was recently posted. He again attacks the notion of 10 000 hours and the need for early specialization. Its a great lecture, if you have 15 minutes have look. How does this apply to physiotherapy? I feel this is one way we can all avoid burnout in our chosen endeavours and limit our chances to injury, by mixing things up and experiencing a wide range of activities.
