Expectations

Every once and awhile we may be blessed with a new experience, a new thing, a new happening. This new thing gives a perspective , it takes out of our ordinary activities and tasks. Its like a vacation, meeting a new friend , learning a new skill, or finding a cool new shop. Most often when these things happen they are unexpected. That is to say we don’t expect them and we have no , zero, zilch , expectations for the experience. I think this is the crucial point for any new experience that more times than not becomes a positive experience, we are not projecting ourselves. We let the thing happen, let experience roll. Life today is busy, we have demands at work, in our recreation, and personal lives with only such much time and resources to go around. Unfortunately not much about our world allows to not have expectations or even experience some new things and I think this is a pity. Not having expectations is a skill set , a mind set. Sometimes it can be the difference between acceptance and denial. When an injury occurs, it is always hard, challenging, uncomfortable and debilitating. The expectation of not experiencing the difficulty while going through an injury process can be more detrimental than the injury itself.
