Its Just Cruel

As a physiotherapist I really enjoy observing how the human body functions. For the most part, althoughnot limited to , this will manifest in the form of sport. Sport has this ability to provide challenges and to drive solutions. From the stand point of human mechanics this is obvious, not so obvious to the viewer is the psychological aspects of sport. In normal day to day life, we need to solve problems as well, and for me and my clients this means remaining as healthy as possible, to be active participants in our lives- this should and will encompass both the physical and the psychological. So for as much as I enjoy watching spots for the movements, mechanics, and fluidity of top athletes , I also enjoy catching some of the interviews with the athletes. One that stands out to me is a recent Tour de France interview with Slovenian cyclist Matej Mohoric. Matej had just won stage 19. He explains the difficulties of the challenge, feeling as if he doesn’t belong, sacrifices his team makes for the athletes to compete and identifies how important the win is with a level of humility.
