Hyperalgesia

When you injure yourself you body does a good job of letting you know. The injury site undergoes an inflammatory process, including the release of chemicals which are designed to increase your awareness to painful sensations. This process is known as hyperalgesia . In the short term this increased sensitivity to pain forces the individual to reduced activities, allowing tissue healing to occur. You may not like the pain, but this is very helpful for your tissue health.
