Meaning Is High Performance

Regardless of your endeavour, if its recovery from an injury or achieving a new personal best, you are most likely looking for an additional edge. It is true that there are many marginal gains to be made, if it’s the application of dedicated recovery techniques, maybe its the additional time in the gym for weight lifting or perhaps changing to a cleaner diet, there will be a benefit. In today’s age a modern athlete or even weekend warrior can consult with a physiotherapist, a massage therapist , a sports psychologist, a dietitian , a private coach, an equipment technician and the list goes on and on and on. These can be important tools when applied with a specific analysis. However, when taken to the extremes, the meaning and purpose of participating in the endeavour fades into the background. Sometimes we can choose to inundate ourselves with far too much stuff, loosing sight of the initial intent of what and why we are seeking what we seek. Taking a pause to re-establish the meaning of our pursuit, in my opinion, can be the easiest way to establish the gains we are looking to seek. Finding meaning in what we do is high performance.
