Push Ups
I have recently assigned push-ups to a client who has been struggling with postural pain and it is something I do on the regular. Postural pain , like all sources of pain can arise from multiple sources, one of these very common and very modifiable sources is the lack of scapular stability and postural control. This may sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo, its really fancy talk for lack of using ones body as it should be used. When I assign home exercise programs at Range, I look for several factors of the exercises. Are the exercises easy to follow? Do they require little equipment and space? Are they fun for the client? How about meaningful? Although push ups in general aren’t fun for everyone a variation of them may be. It creates an easy to do, simple , reproducible and measurable goal for clients. When it comes down to push ups- make some time, do them from time to time.
