Never Trust a Skinny Chef
I have heard this saying every now and then - in fact it is a go to saying for my clients when I am injured. In fact this week if you are visiting the clinic, you will see your therapist walking with a limp. The result of some overzealous running , doubling my weekly volume while away in Saskatchewan . As much I heed my own advice, the joys of running on long stretches of open farm road amongst fields of wheat, corn and canola was too much to resist. For me this highlights the importance of my educational messaging with my clients. How it needs to relate to them, needs to be clear, and incorporates the fact that sometimes the activities we hope to participate in mean more than the potential for injury…sometimes. My injuries are going to happen, particularly when I am interested in the activities that I am, its not something to hide from but something to respect and gives me a greater understanding of the injury experience. Never trust a Physio who doesn’t limp every from time to time.
